Over the weekend a new sculpture was installed close to London’s Marble Arch, ‘Genghis Khan’ by Siberian sculptor, Dashi Namdakov. A friend has already remarked that there’s something of Lovecraft about that sinister-looking horse – it’s certainly a fearsome beast fitting it’s rider.
You can see some more images here, as well as some snaps of one of London’s municipal fountains just next to the statue, which were taken during its allotted hour of daily operation while the South East of the country operates under drought conditions.
It is somewhat ‘Medusa-esque’ in appearance. You wouldn’t want to bump into it stumbling home after a few beers!
Not sure if I’m a massive fan of this Pete. What’s your view?

You see I love the image of Genghis Khan, the way he’s been rendered with that almost buddha-like face, but the horse doesn’t fit in my view – he almost looks like he’s been plonked on top of the sculpture of another person’s horse…
Loving the Genghis Khan statue!
If you like Genghis Khan you should read the Conn Iggulden the Conqueror series
Thanks Rachel – I’ll add to my long list of things to read – I’m still powering through some photography technique books right now, the kind that just don’t work on a Kindle unfortunately…
