From 27 April to 20 May the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition returns to the magnificent surroundings of London’s Somerset House.

The exibition will feature photography that has been shortlisted from over 112,000 entries to the 2012 competition, and includes the work of professionals and amateurs from across the globe. Themes for this year’s show will include photojournalism, nature photography, fashion shoots, sport and more. One of the highlights of this year’s exhibition will be the winner of Sony’s L’Iris d’Or annual award for the professional photographer of the year, with the prize being announced at a special event at the Park Lane Hilton earlier in April.

Other features of this year’s show include:

  • Photographs from WPO’s ‘City Projects‘, which aims to depict cities from across the world
  • Winners of the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt Photo Competition (you can find out how to enter your images here)
  • Digital slideshows of entries to the Londoners’ photography competition, ‘Portrait Of Your City‘, which invites entrants to depict life in their home boroughs (entry information can be found here, and you have until 13 April to get your images in)

The exhibition forms the centrepiece of ‘World Photo London‘, which will also feature masterclasses, seminars and opportunities to get critiques of your work. Entry to the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition will cost £7.50, but most of the other World Photo London events are free of charge - details here.
