OK I’m cheating, the photos referenced here I took last week, but I do find myself around the periphery of Millwall Docks pretty often these days (you know who you are x )
Sometimes (although unfortunately not in the particular images I took on this rather stormy Sunday a little earlier this month) the vast expanse of water is as still as a millpond, so the towers of Canary Wharf appear doubled… an absolutely amazing site.
It’s worth a visit, although I’d suggest that you head back to Canary Wharf if you feel like a drink after all that water – there are very few pubs left on the Isle of Dogs, and passing them by you’re left with the distinct impression that they’re local pubs for local people!

If the DLR (to Mudchute or Crossharbour) doesn’t tickle your fancy, you can get the regular Thames Clipper ‘river bus’ service from the centre of town to Masthouse Pier if you’re feeling a bit adventurous (that’s when they decide to stop that is, rather than just not bothering and going straight on to Greenwich, as I discovered recently to my cost)
