Maggie’s Culture Crawl – An Overnight Fundraising Hike To Coincide With Open House London

maggies culture crawl open house londonOrganised in conjunction with the forthcoming Open House London weekend later this month, cancer charity Maggie’s are putting on Maggie’s Culture Crawl. This is an overnight hike between several of the participating venues from Friday night on 20 September through to the following Saturday morning, with participants raising money along the way for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres which offer support to people suffering from cancer and their families and friends.

This year’s Culture Crawl will wind its way across London, offering late night and exclusive access to a whole range of buildings from the Gherkin at St Mary Axe to the grand headquarters of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on Whitehall.

If you get involved, the twilight exploration of the capital will also involve a silent disco from Nick Luscombe and Max Reinhardt from Radio 3 at the Royal Geographical Society (although how you bop to Mahler and Elgar is beyond me!), an encounter with artist Robin Blackledge at Maggie’s London and opportunities to interact with the art installation created by Rebecca Law along the route – Rebecca is known for her large installations of hanging flowers…

You can sign up for Maggie’s Culture Crawl here, and I can offer you a little bonus if you do – use the promo code BLOGGER on your sign-up form and you’ll get £5 off the registration price. As an added incentive, if you sign up I’m sure that I can regail you with interesting facts about London along the route, because I’m  going to be there!

I’m very grateful for the support that my family received during my father’s very short battle with cancer last year, and I don’t know what we would have done without the help of our local cancer charities. Maggie’s offers an invaluable service across the country and deserve your support, so do participate if you can. It’s a fantastic way to see London in a new light, and I’m sure that some of the building visits as part of Open House London will be absolutely unforgettable.

If you can’t make it there will, of course, be a blogpost telling you all about what happened but can I ask a big, big favour of my readers? Would you support my fundraising effort for Maggie’s? My JustGiving page for the Culture Crawl can be found here – anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated.
