After penning a succesful adaptation of Machiaevelli’s play The Mandrake, which took the stage of South London’s Jack Studio Theatre by storm back in June, playwright Howard Colyer is returning to the venue with a playbill of three short plays – Never Have I Seen Mount Fuji, Conference Call and Nothing Else Ever.
Opening tonight and running through until Saturday 7 September, this trio of plays is being presented by Ballast Theatre. Never Have I Seen Mount Fuji (titled ‘a love affair‘) and Nothing Else Ever are directed by Sarah Marr, while Conference Call (a ‘ghost story’), will be directed by Scott Le Crass. Conference Call had a previous outing at Victoria’s now sadly lost Etcetera Theatre last summer, while this run will mark the premiers of the other two plays.
If The Mandrake is anything to go by, expect some tightly-scripted and consummately acted performances. The show runs at 7:45pm Tuesday through Saturday each week, and tickets are just £10 (£8 concessions). You can pick them up online here, and why not keep an eye on the the Jack Studio Theatre’s Twitter account for updates about future plays. If you’ve not been over there before, you’ll find the theatre upstairs in the popular Brockley Jack pub just a stone’s throw from
