iCity Hosts Public Exhibitions On The Future Of The Olympic Park’s Press & Broadcast Centres

Starting this Friday, 15 March, iCity, the consortium which is the preferred bidder for the London 2012 Press and Broadcast Centres in Hackney Wick, is going to be hosting four days of exhibitions and seeking the views of local people on their plans to develop a ‘digital hub’ at the site in advance of their planning application to the London Legacy Development Corporation later this month.

Amongst their plans for the buildings, iCity intend to create a new campus for Hackney Community College which will deliver digital apprenticeships (a first for the UK) involving 350 local students each year. Hot London digital organisations TechHub and SPACE Studios will also be using part of the site to house and develop new digital start-ups. Elsewhere on the site Infinity SDC will be building a new 260,000 square feet data centre to compliment their existing London facilities, and BT Sport will be using the studios from August to broadcast their Premiership football offering.
