tinata reclaim! fitzroy house dalston londonThis Is Not A Takeaway (TINATA), the organisation that showcases artists and non-artists who are interested in how food is sourced and prepared, are bringing a very topical event to Fitzroy House in Dalston this Wednesday evening called Reclaim!

Working with Feeding the 5kBest Before ProjectThe People’s KitchenBootstrap and Merci Marie, TINATA will be inviting visitors to participate in a four-course vegan and vegetarian group meal from 6pm. Alongside some good, wholesome food the evening will involve discussion around food waste and what can be done to deal with this pressing issue – are you aware, for example, that on on average families in the UK throw away £270 of food each year?

Niki Charalampopoulou of Feeding The 5K will be speaking at the event, letting the diners in on some of the most common food myths and some surprising facts about food waste and what can be done to reduce it.

Reclaim! takes place at Fitzroy House, 3 Abbot St from 6pm on Wednesday 20 February and you’ll find tickets here, priced at just £10. Fitzroy House is a few minutes walk from Dalston Junction and Dalston Kingsland Overground stations.

Founder of TINATA, Sorcha-Mae Stott-Strzala is a videographer and live artist whose practice involves capturing moments of the quotidian and the everyday. The exploration of food at TINATA events comes from her ongoing research to ‘EatArt’ and the role of giving in edible performance art. Stott-Strzala works with installations and video and believes that participant-led food events help enhance an understanding of oneself and the human condition in general. Her work in hospitality and the food industry combined with working in the arts, has lead to a diverse range of performance and video, exhibited in and around London and Manchester.
