This post is by way of a public service announcement – NHS North East London and the City’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service are currently running a new campaign, ‘Not Always A & E’, which gives advice to local people on where they should seek advice and treatment for a range of ailments. I think the concern is that people are visiting Accident & Emergency Departments unnecessarily when they should be going somewhere else – phoning NHS Direct, going to see their GP or even self-treating.
I wouldn’t generally talk about this kind of subject on the Londoneer but the way that they are promoting the campaign is worth noting – wherever they set themselves up to chat to passers-by they are accompanied by huge banana-yellow figures displaying various symptoms, one of whom I suspect has already popped his clogs…
Today they were placed around the entrance to Stratford station – it was quite a sight! You can find out more about the ‘Not Always A & E’ campaign here.
