The Upton Park Singing Sensation – ‘One Pound Fish Man’, Muhammad Nazir

One of the artists currently vying for a Christmas number one in the UK charts is Muhammad Shahid Nazir – known as the ‘1 pound fish man‘, Nazir is a fishmonger who plies his trade at Queen’s Market in Upton Park, just down the street from West Ham football club. The song incorporates the sales patter that he uses to entice in customers to buy their cod, salmon and whitebait…

Originally from Pattoki, a small town near Lahore in Pakistan, Nazir has only been in the UK for year but is already becoming a pop sensation, despite not having impressed the X-Factor judges during the 2012 competition. To date his video has racked up over 6 million views on YouTube.

He’s certainly no Jeff Buckley or Kirsty MacColl but the song is quite a lot of fun, so if you want to support his bid to become an East End number one you can pick up a copy of his song here on iTunes.
