The Urban Edge Art Event In Brixton – 7 To 9 December

Following on from a successful event as part of the Lambeth Open in October, the Urban Edge Gallery on Brixton Hill in South London (near the wonderful windmill) is throwing open its doors again from Friday 7 December to Sunday 9 December for the Urban Edge Art Event.

The workshop spaces at Urban Edge are home to several local artists who will be exhibiting their work over the weekend. Amongst them, Mary Jane of Arc-en-Ciel produces fantastical pieces for everyone who is young at heart, in contrast to Ferdinand Smith who creates works that are cold, dark and restrictive. Other artists include Claudia Feigk, a cross-media artist who lives and works in Brixton and focuses on stylish pieces featuring fashion and glamour, and
Antonia Myatt, who has settled in the area after working in Southern Spain for some years – her paintings have dreamlike qualities (note the very unusual image of St Pauls).

Throughout the Urban Edge Art Event they’ll be cooking up a storm on their jerk chicken BBQ, and local graphic artist Dan Pearce will also be producing a wall-sized art piece over the weekend.

The team would like people to RSVP on their Facebook event page so they know how many visitors to expect, and you can also sign-up on the page they’ve created on Meetup.com

Entry to the Urban Edge Art Event is free and it runs from 6pm to 10pm on Friday and then 11am to 7pm on Saturday and Sunday. You can find the Urban Edge Gallery at Unit 2, 126 Brixton Hill, SW2 1RS.
