The area around London’s Kings Cross and St Pancras stations is undergoing massive redevelopment at the moment. This has its upsides and its downsides but one of the positives is the fact that the Camley Street Natural Park is now much more easily accessible.
Camley Street Natural Park is situated at the top of Pancras Road, the street that separates Kings Cross and St Pancras stations. It was established back in 1984 on a long strip of land next to the canal that used to be a coal storage area for the railway’s steam engines, but which is now one of the quietest and most peaceful spots in N1. It’s open to the public from 10am to 5:30 Monday thru Friday and on Sundays (it’s closed on Saturdays). If you’re as fortunate as we were on our visit yesterday, you might even have some company – we were followed around for a while by a pair of Canada Geese and several of their fluffy offspring…
