The Gold Challenge Comes To The Olympic Stadium On 1 April

On Sunday 1 April there’ll be an opportunity to visit the London 2012 Olympic Stadium as part of the Gold Challenge, and contribute to NSPCC funds into the bargain.

Several British Olympic medalists will be taking part in a celebrity relay race to warm up the track for the summer games, as will other sporting legends and celebrities. The line up of runners so far includes Gareth Thomas, Will Greenwood, Mike Catt, Austin Healey and Alex Stewart. Sinitta will also be taking part, so there’s a chance that you might spot Simon Cowell in the crowd, you never know! Sponsored runners will also be taking to the track as part of the effort to raise funds for the many charities which the Gold Challenge is supporting.

There are still opportunities for you to get involved in the Gold Challenge, which is looking for people to take part in sport activities with the aim of covering 2012km by December, whether by running, swimming, cycling or even horseriding. Of the charities who are involved, the NSPCC are hoping to raise £1m to support their work with vulnerable children, including their vitally important Childline support service. You can find out more about taking part here, and find out other general ways in which you can support the NSPCC here.

Early bird spectator tickets for the 1 April event are available for £12 a go, with 20% of the price of each ticket going straight into the NSPCC’s funds if you purchase them through this link and quote the code NSPCC2012 when you buy. There are lots of other activities going on at the stadium during the day so it should be a good opportunity to see the facilities if you’ve been unable to secure tickets for the London 2012 Games themselves…
