The Chichester Festival production of Stephen Sondheim’s grizzly musical, ‘Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet St‘ is coming to the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End from March 2012.
Michael Ball is taking on the leading role of the evil Todd, while Imelda Staunton will play Mrs Lovett, the pie maker who is glad to make use of the gruesome remains! If it’s as macabre as the 2007 movie then I think they might be on to a winner with this one, but there’ll be a review on the Londoneer in March to help you make your mind up – it will be interesting to see how they deal with all that blood! Performances of ‘Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet St’ will take place at 7:30pm, Monday to Saturday, with Wednesday and Saturday matinees.
