Today marks Earth Hour, the annual campaign to highlight climate change, and which is being symbolised this year by the lights being switched off on cultural landmarks around the world for one hour from 8:30pm tonight.
We at home are being asked to do the same thing, so I will be sitting in darkness for a while this evening and contemplating what I can do personally to make a difference. One thing that has been on my mind is that, unlike my friends in Hackney, our recycling options in Newham are a lot more limited – that’s certainly something I could help to change. There are lots of resources and advice on the website where you can find out what you can do to help, here.
So turn off your lights for an hour at 8:30pm this evening, and think about Earth Hour
