A friend and I went for a quiet walk in Epping Forest, near Chingford, this afternoon. We visited Queen Elizabeth I’s Hunting Lodge first, which is free to visit by the way, and then walked over into the forest where we were surprised to see an electric fence! Curious about what it was protecting, we walked around the corner and found these wonderful cattle. I have no idea what breed they are, but i would imagine something quite old – perhaps someone reading the blog can enlighten me? EDIT: Jan confirms that they are indeed English Longhorn cattle…
We also came across a very cooperative cabbage white butterfly who instead of flying away, seemed to be desperate to be photographed as he moved closer and closer as we watched.
