What Next For the Doctor?

Sci-Fi

So after last night’s episode it looks like there’s another one to add to this little picture…

I think you’ll agree that it was a really amazing episode of Doctor Who. Shortly after the episode had aired I started to follow the conversation that was going on at the DigitalSpy forums – within an hour there were about 300 messages – the post count is currently at 1456! There’s lots of other speculation going on at the site about the season finale, ‘Journey’s End’ – why not join in if you’re a fan :)

My favourite moments were the slightly exasperated Daleks saying to ex-Prime Minister, and MP for Flydale North, Harriet Jones, “We know who you are”, and Sarah Jane’s plea to the daleks when she was stopped in her car that brought the reply, “Daleks do not accept apologies!”. Of course the camply insane Dalek Caan was very funny too. Great telly.

Just a few interesting notes that I picked up from the forum – there’s a lot of speculation about the significance of the Costerhagen key, which they insist that Martha Jones should not use under any circumstances, so it must be significant. A Mr Costerhagen has also mysteriously appeared on Facebook, so perhaps he’ll have something to say before Saturday.

There are also some interesting theories about Donna, including the fact that everyone keeps telling her she’s special, although she keeps insisting she’s a ‘temp’, and she was too strong for the ‘time bug’ in the 11th episode, “Turn Left”. Also, during the scene in this week’s episode when she was sitting on the steps in the Shadow Proclamation, wasn’t there the sound of two heartbeats, and wasn’t that a rather large ring she was wearing at the time? The oracles in the episode ‘The Fires of Pompeii’ from earlier in the season also tell Donna, “You call yourself Noble”, not “Your name is Noble”. What could that possibly signify I wonder… the Doctor does insist that she turns up too often for it to be a coincidence.

There’s a new trailer for next week’s episode on the BBC here, and remember to set your recorders for extra-long, because this last episode is going to come in at a whopping 65 minutes in total. I can’t wait! And nicking a phrase from the Digital Spy forum (and, as it happens, obliquely from Douglas Adams),

“So long, and thanks for all the honey!” :)

    Mr Londoneer.
The costerhagen key is actually the “osterhagen” key as mentioned in leytonjay’s website. Theres a quite interesting thread on the site that discusses what it could possibly be too.
Just thought i’d let you know.
    Ta.

Oops forgot to add the url, well it is early………..

I can’t believe the doctor is really re-generating into a new doctor – if he is, then that was the best-kept secret in telly ever!

One unlike theory about Donna – could she be the Rani!

  4. The Londoneer Says:

I’ve heard theories that she also might be Romana (who was the chief Timelord at the time of the Timewar btw) or indeed a regeneration of the Master himself.

Oh yes, the Osterhagen key, that’s right – which is also an anagram of “Earth’s gone” !! I cannot wait until this Saturday :)

I know who the new doctor is supposed to be btw – sort of a cross between Chris Eccleston and David Tennant in terms of his acting style… I will say no more :)
