Ok, here’s the deal. Next week I’m off work and I’m looking for things to do. Therefore readers, I would like you to tell me where you’d like me to go (don’t snigger). Next week from Monday to Friday I’ll keep each afternoon free and I want some suggestions. I don’t really want to do central London because been there, done that, but I’m happy to travel anywhere within the M25, north or south of the river. I’ll also commit to blogging on the same day that I visit… wherever.
Replies to this blog post please – I know lots of you read this but don’t comment, so now’s your chance. Send me somewhere really grotty if you like, I’ll even go to Peckham if I am so ordered, “by your command!”

If you get some decent weather – have an afternoon down in Southend-on-Sea and treat yourself to a few winkles!

Well, strictly speaking thats outside the rules because its outside the M25, however it’s in the spirit of what I asked, and you’re my first commenter so enough said – on Monday I’m going to Southend…

I vote for Thamesmead — I have a fairly long-standing “to do” item of finding something in SE28 that’s worth visiting, so maybe you can get me a head start.

Kew Gardens? Maybe you could try out their new high level walkway and get a few pics for those of us unfortunate enough to be at work while you’re off?

Ok -thanks Kate – Thamesmead it is then on Tuesday, and Kew Gardens on Wednesday. They have that new elevated walkway amongst the treetops which I thought would be worth a visit…
Thanks – still looking for suggestions for Thursday and Friday folks

Go to Hammersmith and walk along the river – lots of pubs, Fuller’s brewery, Chiswick Eyot (if the tide’s out you can scramble over to the island)

If it’s not too late, I recommend a trip to Eltham Palace. Henry VIII’s boyhood home, restored in keeping with the Courtauld’s fabulous art deco decor.
